Frequently Asked Questions: QMT Finances

Why do you need donors? Aren't you all volunteer?

No. For many years, our business manager was a part-time paid position. We now employ a full-time Managing Director as well as musicians, directors, costumers and technical personnel as needed. We feel this is necessary to deliver the quality  productions you have come to expect of us.

The theater has corporate sponsors… isn’t that enough?

Corporate backers defray only a fraction of our production costs. The majority of our revenue comes from tickets, playbill ads, and contributions.

Forget sponsors, just pull the money from your trust!

A trust was established only for the upkeep of the facility itself. We are unable to use one penny for operations, which is the norm for such funding. We exist on a very small, tight budget. As a result, every show is “soup from a stone”.

Why Is QMT worth my investment of time and/or money?

Simply put, because we are survivors. On average, community theatres exist only seven years. We have served as one of the area's premiere cultural attractions since 1983! All this in a very small city with limited arts resources and volunteers.

So you’ve lasted. What else makes you so special?

We are largest and only all-musical community theatre in the tri-state area! We've produced four or more major musicals or reviews each year since 1984! Musicals are the most challenging and costly of all theatre. Other community venues in larger cities may attempt only one a season.

OK... I'm sold! How can I help ensure QMT's future?

Bu sending your much appreciated and tax deductible contribution in any amount made payable to The Quincy Music Theatre (118 E. Washington Street Quincy, FL 32351). If you are unable to assist us financially at this time please consider simply purchasing a ticket to one of our productions... or volunteering your time. Both will mean more than you know. Thank you.
